Orthodontia
Nowadays aesthetic dentistry is spreading. Many think that orthodontia belong to such kind of treatments as well. But it is not so at all! Regular teeth are basically important in concern of clearability. Confusedly grown, jammed teeth are hard to be cleaned perfectly. That may cause carries, gingivitis, and which is moreover, to the age of 40-50, disease of the tooth-bed. But these are not the only cause of problems. Not ideally standing teeth are exposed to forces from different, unfavourable directions which cause "traumatic load" either to the given or to the other teeth as well. And which is more, such a "traumatic bite" may be the cause of some mandible joint problems like: clicking or arthralgia that may even have an effect on lifestyle in form of headache! Fortunately the ideal arc of teeth is identical to the aesthetically advantageous "excellent smile".
The most appropriate age for orthodontia is 11-18. Orthodontial treatments were made earlier almost only in these ages. However recently there are such techniques and equipment available that orthodontial treatments practically can be carried-out in any age! Worthy to ask for a consultation with a professional dentist, even if we, uninitiated, think that there is no need for that.
Often the orthodontial treatments must be started in childhood. In general, till the age of 12-13, we make the treatment with removable device. The type of device will be decided by an accurate plan. It is not always easy to wear a removable device and it is important to make the children wear it with pleasure thus we give them the chance to arbitrary selection of different colors and decoration patterns.
From the age of 12-14, fixed device is necessary. There is a great selection of devices in our surgeries: metal-made or porcelain-made, in tooth-like color. Our patients may select of 3M Unitek products: Victory Series (metal), Clarity (porcelain), or of Damon2 (metal), Damon3 (porcelain-metal) device used for the most up-to-date Damon techniques! With these techniques the teeth will move faster and more mercifully, which is important in adult orthodontia!
Orthodontial treatment lasts long (1.5-2 years sometimes), compared to other treatments, but its result is seen for the whole life along. Therefore it's worth starting it even if you think it's late!
