Teeth reconstruction planning and Gum Smile
In our surgeries, the key to reach a regular smile means those planning techniques that help both to dentist and dental technician to prepare the most proportionate dentures that fit into the face harmony of the patient.
The Phases of that are the following:
1. Photos will be taken from the patient's face from the front, sides and chewing surface of teeth. In these pictures the symmetry conditions of teeth will be examined, and will be compared with such reference planes and lines on the face and in the mouth that can be basic determinants of the revival smile requested by the patient.
2. It will be compared to the existing teeth according to the principals of dental symmetry; we will examine the situation of the lower-upper middle-line, the form of front teeth, the symmetry conditions of gingvinal zenith. We will check the ratios of the edge line of front teeth, the correct smile line and the length of incisors. One of the starting points, to determine how much is visible from the front teeth, which is individually characteristic, is the upper line of lip, in the resting position of lips. The position of the upper line of lip at smile orients us in which dental class the gum smile belongs to (convex, concave or "gull-wing" type). The line of Iower lip is important alike or the position of the smile line respectively, which has to have its arc on one characteristic arc with the edge of upper incisors.
3. Fonational (pronunciation) examinations are necessary as well in order to keep the original speech of our patients following the dental works (incisal display examination).
4. We consider important to clearify the proper dimensional ratio of front teeth. To reach the ideal width-length ratio, the correction of gum and in case of certain irregular meeting of teeth, the preliminary raising of bite might be often necessary. The determinants of the examination are the length of the original big inscisor, the contour of gum, and the registration of gum visibility at mild smile and laugh.
5. The aesthetics of denture, completely satisfying the demand of patient, in most of the cases, can be controlled by preparation of temporary restaurations. The most often used method for that is to adjust a diagnostical dental plate or arch prosthesis, which was prepared from an imprint, in the workshop of the dental technician, in mouth, to reach the best aesthetic effect. In more difficult cases, up to the study sample, the dental technician will prepare a wax-up model to which a foil-splint will be mounted by drawing process. With the help of that will be formed that provisional arrangement in the mouth of the patient which will be corrected with the active participation of the patient and in accordance with the professional requirements.
